Elder Nathaniel Goodson Jr. is the eldest of seven children, born to the late Deacon Nathaniel Sr. and Sister Ruth Goodson. He was raised in a Christian family and attended church from a very early age. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior in 1967 and soon after received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Elder Goodson delivered his trial sermon at the Memorial Church of God in Christ in Haverford, PA, under the leadership of the late Elder Leonard Lovett. Soon after, he was ordained under the pastorship of Elder Nathaniel Porter, where he served faithfully until he was called to work with Elder Lafayette Gooding at Zion Hill Church of God in Christ in Philadelphia, PA. While at Zion Hill, he served as the Youth Minister, Sunday School Teacher, and Choir Director. He won the respect of all he worked with, both young and old alike. In May 1979, Bishop O.T. Jones Jr. sent Elder Goodson to Prayer Chapel C.O.G.I.C. to minister and lead the people. Since he became Pastor, many souls have accepted Christ, membership continues to increase, and many have found healing and deliverance through his prayers. They have served faithfully and productively. In October 2022, Bishop Glimp, Jurisdictional Prelate, appointed Elder Goodson as Superintendent of the Delaware Valley District.

Elder Goodson received his BA degree in Political Science from Cheyney University and entered the field of Social Work, where he could serve all. In 1988, he received his Master of Social Work degree from the University of Pennsylvania. In February 2005, Elder Goodson was appointed the First African-American Councilman in Upper Darby. His dedication and community action resulted in him being elected for two more terms since then. Today, he remains an influential figure in the church and the Upper Darby community. Elder Goodson has been married for 51 years to his beautiful wife, Audrey. From this union, they have one daughter, Dea Goodson-Jackson, and son-in-law, Kwan. In January of 2007, he was blessed with the birth of his first granddaughter, Layla.
